The Story of a Girl and her hair

Ever since the day that we bought the movie Tangled

Madelyn has been obsessed with this movie.  Always wanting to watch it and trying to act out her favorite parts. And every day we have heard, "I wish I had long hair like Rapunzel's" or "If my hair was like Rapunzel's I would..." or " I am never letting Aunt Natalie cut my hair again so it can be long like Rapunzel's"

Then seeing that growing hair that long was going to take a very long time Madelyn used her imagination and would use anything to long for her "hair".
She used Caleb's favorite blanket.  Which caused a lot of tears for Caleb who chased her around trying to get his blanket back.  She used bailing twine from JD's parents dairy that she would tie to her pony tail. She pretty much used anything long for hair.

This in turn drove me nuts.  I loved that she was using her imagination but we had to come up with something else.
So I went online and searched for Rapunzel hair.  My friend Erica Harward made her daughter some hair from yarn and I found some others sites that made them too but this was the site that I used for my idea.
I called my mom and asked her if she had any yellow yarn. (I'm cheap, I didn't want to spend money if I didn't have to)  She said she did, so I decided when I was up to my mom's for Easter that I would make one.

Thankfully my sister Bobbie was there and she helped me braid it.  Madelyn didn't want it braided but then we put flowers in it and told her it was from the part where the little girls braid Rapunzel's hair.  Then she was okay with it.  After we finished that one we had to make two more one for Bobbie's daughter and one for my cousin's little girl as well.  Mine was a lot thinner than the one in the tutorial but I really like how it turn out and she does to.

Now we just have two rules: She can't wear it to church or to school and it is not a weapon for hitting your brothers.

  1. SO fun! Kaylin can't take hers off now! She told me that she didn't want it to get dirty so that's why she didn't wear it at Grammy's house!

  2. You did a great job on the hair. What a cute idea. I can't believe how grown up she is now. Your little family isn't very little any more.
